Collecting data
We publish these statistics once enough addresses have been checked this year for the numbers to be reliable. Check back soon. In the meantime, try the disposable email checker or read the email validation guide.
Methodology
- Source: addresses checked through the validateemail.io API by the businesses that use it, typically at sign-up, checkout or list import. Checks from the free tools on this website are not included, because people use them to test known throwaway addresses.
- Counting: each address is counted once per 7-day window. Repeat checks of the same address within a week are served from cache and not counted again. Checks that failed on a temporary DNS error are left out.
- Period: calendar year to date, in UTC. Figures update daily.
- Definitions: "Disposable" means the domain is on our daily-updated list of temporary inbox providers. "Typo" means we suggested a correction. "Can't receive email" covers invalid syntax, domains that don't exist and domains with no mail server. The email validation guide explains each check.
- Privacy: we store only aggregate counts. No email addresses are kept for these statistics, and only well-known public domains (disposable providers, free email providers and misspellings of them) are ever named.
